Hello friends! I am LaRhea Voelker, Kindergarten teacher. 

I grew up in Newman Grove, Nebraska on a farm with 3 sisters and a brother. 

In June, 1980, I married Leon Voelker. When I was unable to find a teaching job, right out of college, we decided to start our family. We moved to Battle Creek where we still reside. We have 3 children-Jason, Kristi and her husband John, and James and his wife, Kendra. We have 7 grandchildren and 1 grandchild in heaven.

I worked various jobs in the food industry including Godfather’s Pizza, Valentino’s, Prengers and Flossies Restaurant. After that I worked as a department manager at Wal-mart. When I had our last child James, I decided to be a stay at home Mom and start my own childcare. After having in home childcare for 12 years, I returned to school to get my recertification as a teacher. I student taught at Christ Lutheran School and when my supervising teacher, Mrs. Kathy Pobanz found out she had cancer, I was asked to fill in for her until she could return. However, Mrs. Pobanz did not recover from cancer.   I was blessed to be hired to teach second grade full time.

I love working with children and seeing how excited they become as they learn new concepts, discover how to read, and grow in their faith. Each grade is special in their own special way, but Kindergarten is unique and has been one of my favorite grades to teach!
